Ken Rutherford was a small business loan officer for a U.S. bank in Somalia when the jeep in which he was riding ran over a landmine.  His left leg had to be amputated below the knee immediately after the explosion; he elected to have his injured right leg amputated below the knee a few years later.  Ken is completing a doctorate and is co-founder of the Landmine Survivors Network, an international advocacy organization for landmine victims.  He is also the father of three children.
