a Virtual Conversations® language program

This is a role-playing, educational experience where you speak
directly with Roberto, a native Hispanic video character.

In this Virtual Conversations® program, you are transported to the patio of a restaurant in Mexico where Roberto, the owner, appears on the screen, greets you with a smile and actively waits for you to respond. From this point on you are in charge of the conversation. You speak directly to Roberto about the fare of this fictitious restaurant and ask him questions about the numerous items on the menu. Roberto is aggressive. He is quick to state his opinions and ask you questions too. Expect a lively give-and-take conversation in which hundreds of Spanish words and phrases are exchanged between you. Also, you will meet Tito, the head waiter who speaks only Spanish, and be called on to help a confused non-Spanish-speaking American couple order their meal.

The conversation with Roberto is so real that you probably will feel anxious from speaking Spanish directly with a native speaker. But, you will also have the satisfaction of overcoming these feelings through repeated encounters with this colorful, often amusing, character. Furthermore, your encounter with Tito and the American couple will allow you to “problem solve” using only the Spanish language. You will be amazed by the amount of Spanish that will be exchanged naturally during your face-to-face encounters with Roberto and Tito. As you converse with them, your vocabulary will increase, your pronunciation will improve, and you will gain confidence in your ability to speak Spanish.

The program also includes a native Hispanic instructor to help you learn and pronounce the Spanish words and phrases, and conduct a perfect conversation. She allows you to:

	See the English translations of the Spanish words and phrases you speak
	Record and playback your pronunciation of these words and phrases
	Instantly and repetitively compare your pronunciation with hers
	Compare your pronunciations with those of native speakers on a visual scale
