Interactive Drama has developed a series of Virtual Conversations® programs designed to help
clinicians practice HIV/STD risk assessment and counseling skills by talking with virtual
patients. The HIV/STD series consists of four patients with clinical profiles that are
typical of real patients whose sexual practices put them at high risk for disease: |

A field test of the series by 43 primary care residents at Georgetown University Hospital proved that clinicians who use the programs become more comfortable with sensitive sexual history-taking and more adept at counseling patients about high-risk sexual practices. The development of this program and research activities were funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
